Dagger made from a meteorite, found in Tutankhamun’s tomb

7/14/2016
Tutankhamun-dagger

After careful analyzing of the metal composition of the dagger, found in the Pharaoh’s tomb, researchers claim that maybe it may have an extraterrestrial origin.

The Teenage King

Tutankhamun was mummified 3300 years ago. In his tomb, two daggers were found by the archeologist Howard Carter. One of them is with a golden blade and the other is made from iron. The one made from iron has been analyzed for decades since Carter’s discovery.

X-ray fluorescence spectrometer was used for determining the dagger’s chemical composition. It was found that there is high nickel content and high levels of cobalt. According to the researchers this content “strongly suggests an extraterrestrial origin”.

Similar levels of cobalt and nickel were found in one meteorite, called Kharga, situated around the Red Sea coast of Egypt. The recent findings were published in the recent volume 51, issue 7 of the journal Meteoritics & Planetary Science.

Rocks - gifts from gods

Copper, bronze and gold were used by people since 4000 BC. However, the use of copper came much later. The researchers claim that ancient Egyptians considered the meteorites as rocks falling from the sky. They were like gifts from the gods. That is why they used this metal for creating these delicate objects.

Hangover remediesAsparagus

A research, published by Journal of Food Science, claims that asparagus are one of the best remedies for hangover. This green vegetable is claimed to be one of the world’s healthiest foods and contains lots of vitamins and minerals that you have lost. According to scientists, asparagus can effectively cure hangover by protecting your liver cells from toxins left by alcohol.

Facts you didn't know about mosquitoes

7/11/2016
mosquitoes-facts
Mosquitoes are annoying flies that drink blood from our veins. As a result, they leave an itchy bump on our skin. These creatures “attack” when the sun goes down and rarely when the sky is cloudy or during the day.

Female mosquitoes are those that bite us and drink blood. And that is because a certain nutrients, which could be found in the blood, are necessary for their eggs to be developed and nourished. So they do not need blood for their own health, but to give birth to more mosquitoes. For their nutritional needs, they drink the nectar from plants (like bees).

The key question is what do mosquitoes do during the day? The heat can quickly kill these insects because of the dehydration. And that is the main reason they prefer humid areas. They sleep in holes, caves or even in barns.

It cannot be determined what the exact length of the mosquito’s life is. However, it is composed of four stages including egg, larva, pupa, and adult. The larva is hatched within 48 hours. Then, after 10 days the larva enters the stage called “pupa”. Next, few weeks later it will become an adult mosquito. Usually, larva and pupa cannot survive without water. That is why most of the mosquito’s eggs are laid into water (for example ponds). The female mosquitoes live between 4 and 8 weeks (it depends on the temperature and conditions). After they mate, male mosquitoes die so usually their life cycle is shorter.

The mosquitoes can sometimes transmit extremely dangerous diseases including malaria and many others. It is a well-known fact that the deadliest animal on Earth is the Mosquito, because of the disease that can be carried through biting. In order to breed, these insects need water, so it is recommended to empty areas in your home with standing water.

mosquitoes-facts2 Do you wonder why do we hear the fly of a mosquito? That is because their wings flap more than 800 times per second. For comparison, a fly beat its wings 200 to 300 times per second and butterflies only flaps 8 to 12 times per second.

5 Ancient Alien Mysteries

4/05/2015
As it is outlined by a lot of archaeologists and Ancient Alien theorists, Earth was visited by aliens in the past and their supernatural knowledge has changed the world dramatically. There are a lot of conspiracy theories about extraterrestrial life on our planet and some of them are presented in the following lines. But is it true?

1. The Nazca Lines

Nazca-Lines

This amazing place can be found in Nazca Desert in southern Peru. It is a plateau with geometric shapes and lines made in the ground which are in the shape of animals, birds and human figures. The measurement of some of them is more than 600 feet across. These shapes can be viewed only from a flying object so it is not yet revealed how these figures are so precise.

2. Vimanas

Vimanas

There are numerous Sanskrit tales describing unidentified flying objects. It is unbelievable how these stories, written in India, dates back to more than 2000 years ago. These flying machines are called “Vimanas” and their description is very similar to the UFO. That is the reason for the conspiracy theories suggesting that India was the first country visited by aliens.

3. Pyramids of Giza

GizaPyramids

Egypt’s Giza Pyramid is one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. How is it possible for this ancient Egyptian society to build such a remarkable feat of engineering? One of the theories is that extraterrestrials helped Egyptians build these incredible structures.

4. Teotihuacan

Teotihuacan

Teotihuacan, also called The Pyramid of the Sun is located at the center of a complex of pyramids in Mexico. It is amazing how every pyramid is aligned with a planet of our solar system.

5. Puma Punku

Puma Punku-1

This magnificent place is a part of a large temple complex located near Tiwanaku in Bolivia. According to many archaeologists, these blocks of stone are so finely carved that it is completely impossible without the usage of contemporary tools. However, historians pointed out that these temples may not be less than 1,500 years old. Another incredible fact is that most of the stones weigh more than a hundred tons!

Mystery of Dyatlov Pass

12/25/2014
dyatlov-pass-1
The case “Dyatlov” refers to an event that led to the death of nine skiers in northern Ural Mountain on the night of February 2, 1959. The brutal scene happened on the eastern ridge of the mountain called Kholat Syakhl – called by the local people “Mountain of the Dead”. After the incident the mountain pass is called Dyatlov Pass, based on the name of the group’s leader Igor Dyatlov. There are no eyewitnesses of what happened there and Russian investigators determined that an “unknown compelling force” caused the deaths.

Ten young skiers formed a group which aim was to pass through the north part of Ural mountain. Leader of the group was Igor Dyatlov and the others were seven men and 2 women. The aim of the expedition was to reach Ortorten, which is 10 km away from the accident place. The route at this time of the year fell under category 3, which is the hardest. All members of the group were experienced skiers and participated in long mountain hiking before. One of them injured in the beginning of the expedition and returned to Vizhai.

dyatlov-pass-2 Thanks to the diaries and cameras found near their last camp, investigators trace the path of the group. On 31st of January the nine reached the mountain and began to climb. However, snowstorm and deteriorated weather led them out of their way and they wended to Kholat Syakhl hill. The group decided to camp for the night.

dyatlov-pass-3 The expedition had to finish on 12th of February, but there were no news from the skiers. On 20 of February began the search for them. On February 26th abandoned camp was found. The tent was cut from inside and footprints leading to the nearby forest were found, but after 500 metres they disappeared. In the forest, under a tall pine police found the first two bodies. They were barefoot and wearing only underwear. Between this place and the camp three more bodies were found. The rest 4 bodies were finally found on May 4 under four meters of snow in a ravine. They had fatal injuries: Thibeaux-Brignolles had major skull damage, and both Dubinina and Zolotarev had major chest fractures. The force required to cause such damage would have been extremely high, compared to the force of a car crash. The girl was missing her tongue, eyes, part of the lips, as well as facial tissue and a fragment of skullbone.

 DOUBTS and MYSTERIES

 • Initial suspicion fell on local Mansi people, but later this theory was rejected because there were no traces of other people or fight.
 • One of the hypotheses was that they had all died of hypothermia. But the experts said that there is no chance all of them to have hypothermia simultaneously.
 • Radiation tests showed high doses of radiation on the clothes of some of the victims
 • Traces showed that all of the group have left the camp.
 • According to the specialists such injuries cannot be caused by another person, a huge force was necessary.
 • After the funeral, relatives of the victims claimed that the bodies were in a strange brownish tan.

The official version is that the nine skiers were killed by an “unknown compelling force”.

The discovery of Khufu's Ship

12/05/2014

khufu-boat-3

May 26, 1954: A ship is discovered in a pit near beneath the Great Pyramid of Giza. The full-size ship was constructed for Pharaoh Khufu or Cheops. It was placed here in order to help transport the Pharaoh's soul to heaven and so was built from sacred materials. The sycamore and cedar wood ship was sealed in a pit next to the pyramid used to house the great ruler after his death. The ship was found by Kamal el-Malakh, the director of archaeological work for Giza and lower Egypt. Amazingly, it had not been plundered by tomb robbers during the 4,600 years since it had been placed.

The well-preserved vessel was 143 feet long and 19.5 feet wide. It had a flat bottom without an actual keel. A rudder sweep along with a dozen oars and coils of linen rope were in place aboard ship, ready to sail. The ship was built using unpegged tenons and the planks and frame were held together using Halfah grass. The boat's 1,224 components were transported out and needed to be rebuilt into the magnificent barge once again. The reconstructed ship used modern rope to lash it together and 95% of the wood are the original timbers used for the Pharaoh.
khufu-boat-2

khufu-boat-3The Khufu boat features no nails. Along with the puzzle-piece joggling, its builders connected adjacent planks with mortise-and-tenon joints, a kind of peg-in-hole technique. They also lashed the hull planks together with rope made from a grass called halfa. (Here, an original knot tied by pharaonic shipbuilders.) They didn't wrap the rope around or through the hull planks, which might have promoted leaks. Rather, they worked it through thousands of V-shaped channels they laboriously carved into the inside faces of planks. In essence, they sewed the ship together.

On the deck stands a roofed, windowless deckhouse about 30 feet long. Within it is a seven-foot-long inner chamber. Was Khufu's body placed here for transport across the Nile for interment in the Great Pyramid? Was the pharaoh meant to find shelter here while traveling in the afterlife? As with everything else regarding the ship's function, the intended use of the deckhouse remains unknown.

The ship is known as a "solar barge" or a ritual vessel used at the time to carry the king after his resurrection. He would be joined by the sun god, Ra, as they traveled across the heavens. This particular ship shows some evidence of having seen some time in actual water and may have been used to carry Khufu's embalmed body from Memphis to Giza. It is also possible the Pharaoh could have used it as a "pilgrimage ship" to visit revered sites and so it was blessed and buried with him to use in the afterlife.

khufu-boat-4
The rebuilt ship is housed in a museum built over the pit where it was discovered. The Khufu Boat Museum is along side the Great Pyramid, the oldest and the largest of the Pyramids of Giza. It is the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World still in existence. It is believed to have taken 20 years to build and was completed in 2560 BC. It remained the tallest manmade structure for over 3,800 years until it was surpassed by the Lincoln Cathedral in England. There are three known chambers inside the pyramid with the lowest one cut into the bedrock. There are several theories about how the pyramids were built, but we have no definitive answer.
